Tangier → Asilah at a glance
Asilah is a small coastal town south of Tangier, known for its fortified white medina. According to a routing tool (OSRM, OpenStreetMap data, checked on 25 September 2026), allow about 48 km and 45 min excluding traffic from central Tangier, and about 40 km and 45 min from Tangier Ibn Battouta airport. These are estimates: allow extra time in summer and at weekends.
The options
Train (ONCF)
Official ONCF Al Atlas programmes for trains from Tangier list a stop at Asilah. Timetables, frequency and fares: check on oncf-voyages.ma before you travel. Note: the station is outside town, about 4 km from the medina by road (OSRM estimate); plan a petit taxi or a walk.
Rental car
The most flexible option to combine Asilah with the Atlantic coast or Larache. Handy from Tangier Ibn Battouta airport if you collect the car there.
Taxi or private transfer
Door to door, no changes, including from the airport. We don't publish fares as there is no verified official price list: agree the price before setting off or book a transfer in advance.
From Tangier Ibn Battouta airport
The airport lies south-west of Tangier, already on the way to Asilah: no need to cross the city. Car, taxi or transfer are the direct options; for the train you first need to reach a station.
Medina and parking
Asilah's medina is explored on foot. Park outside the ramparts; parking spots and conditions to be checked locally. Give your driver the exact address of your accommodation.
