At a glance
El Jadida sits on the Atlantic coast, south-west of Casablanca. Two options can be reliably documented: the ONCF train, which serves El Jadida station, and a rental car. The right choice depends mainly on what you plan to do once there.
Estimated driving distance and time
OSRM (OpenStreetMap) estimates, excluding traffic, checked on 2 October 2026:
- Central Casablanca (Place Mohammed V) → El Jadida Portuguese City: about 101 km, 1 h 15;
- Casa-Port station → El Jadida station: about 103 km, 1 h 15;
- Casa-Voyageurs station → El Jadida station: about 107 km, 1 h 20.
These times ignore traffic leaving Casablanca and any stops, so allow some margin.
Which option suits you?
| Your plans | Best fit |
|---|---|
| Portuguese City, seafront and town centre | Train, then a petit taxi or a walk |
| An event at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park | Car, or train then taxi after checking access |
| Mazagan, Azemmour, Sidi Bouzid or the coast towards Oualidia | Car |
| A day trip without driving | Train |
By train
ONCF's official timetable search, checked on 2 October 2026, showed direct (TNR) trains to El Jadida station from both Casa-Port and Casa-Voyageurs on the dates tested. ONCF changed its timetable from 14 September 2026 because of high-speed line works, so check times and fares for your travel date on the official timetable search and the works information page.
By rental car
A car makes sense as soon as your plans go beyond the town centre: the exhibition park, Mazagan, Azemmour or a longer coastal drive. It also frees you from a fixed return time.
Taxi or private transfer
We could not reliably document intercity taxis or transfers on this route (availability, fares), so this option is not compared here.
Leaving from Casa-Port or Casa-Voyageurs
Casa-Port is the central, seafront station; Casa-Voyageurs handles long-distance services. ONCF's search on 2 October 2026 showed direct trains to El Jadida from both: pick the one closest to where you start and check times for your travel date.
Arriving in El Jadida and reaching the medina
El Jadida station lies south of town. The Portuguese City is about 5 km away by road (OSRM estimate excluding traffic, around 7 minutes by car): a petit taxi is the easiest option.
Getting to the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park
We do not publish a distance to the exhibition park because reliable coordinates were not available. Check access, parking and any shuttles with the organiser of the event you are attending.
Parking
No reliable source describes parking around the Portuguese City or the exhibition park: check locally or with your accommodation.
When is a car really worth it?
For a town visit, the train is enough. A car pays off when you combine several places along the coast, head to an event on the outskirts or travel as a group with luggage.
Practical tips
- Check the ONCF timetable the day before you travel.
- Leave Casablanca early to avoid outbound traffic.
- For the Portuguese City, park outside the narrow lanes and finish on foot.
